The Faces of Facebook
So my sister Divya works at Facebook. She sent me this pic today. Apparently Facebook organized a “game day event.” Quite a cool pic. These are the people that run the mothership.

Wine and Data Visualization

The ITP program is two year program at NYU that explores the imaginative use of technology. It is similar to the MIT Media Lab but is known to be a little more experemental in its approach. Whilst browsing interesting student projects, I came across this one. It is a really cool wine flavor visualzation tool. Tashian, the designer, describes it as:
A relative simple circular visualization of the relationships between wine varieties and flavor components. The Wine Flavor Visualization shows the strength of these relationships, by parsing descriptive flavor words from over 5,000 published wine tasting notes written between 1995-2000 in a major Australian wine magazine.
The next time you run out of adjectives to describe a Pinot Noir, use this tool:) On doing some more research to uncover other examples of cool applications of data visualization, I found this list.
Do you have any favorites that are not on this list?
